Hotel Vila Gale Tavira

O staff é muito simpático e prestável. O hotel tem serviços complementares interessantes como o transporte para a praia. A localização é óptima.

Alguns equipamentos estão velhos e precisam de ser substituídos, como os~colhões das camas e as espreguiçadeiras da piscina.

This was a good though not outstanding hotel. The staff were on the whole professional and friendly. The cleaning staff were excellent. Breakfasts were well stocked and had a very good variety at all times - nothing ran out however late you were. There is a well stocked shop in the lobby and the pool area is very good. The rooms are a reasonable size though some of the furniture could do with being replaced as it is looking tired.

No free internet access terminals - most holidaymakers do not bring their laptop; the bar is big but empty as prices are well above anywhere else in the town; it cost 2.50 euros a day for the safe - this should be free; poor reception on old TV in room (not flat screen!)

Hotel is central.

The hotel is running on a shoestring as far as staff is concerned, both in the bar and restaurant. Room cleanliness a major issue. Complaints not acted upon. We were half board and after 3 nights of inedible mains choice, ate in town.Very disapointing all round. Certainly not 4* in ANY area.

Visit the sister hotel, Vila Gale Albacora in the Ria Formosa Park. It's 2 kilometers away, but a world apart in the standard!

Friendly helpful reception/bar staff. Central location. Great pool area. Fresh towels/linen daily.

2nd visit, hotel now looking faded/jaded. Big 'Saga' presence and main facilities for 'Saga' visitors only. Had to eat in hotel restaurant one evening due to bad weather, 20euro set price buffet which was dreadful. This was our last visit to the hotel.

We are golfers, so either played golf or enjoyed the pool. Opened a large indoor shopping mall with food halls about a 2 mins drive away.

The hotel staff made you feel very welcome and were extremely helpfull. Our room had a poolside view and was very quiet at night. Overall the facilities were excellent. Free bus shuttle to the sister hotel to take the boat to a very good beach.

The boat to the hotel beach was not running during our stay.

Plenty of bars and restaurants in Tavira all within easy walking distance.

Very pleasant stay, room good, clean and everything worked! Breakfast excellent and poolside good. Staff helped out when needed

Became noisy once the Portuguese school hols started from 15th July, but the problem was really down to 2 large families. Could do with a toilket more accessible from the pool but not really a problem. The Spa is not free for guests, payment to use it has to be made.

Town is a short walk and so are great restaurants. The area is flat to walk around. A very good situation

The hotel is in a good location, minutes walk to all the restaurants and cafes in Tavira. The hotel has many facilities and a good atmosphere. There is basic evening entertainment. A health spa and beauty treatments. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food standard is very good offering buffet breakfast and evening meal.

Tavira is a beautiful town, well worth exploring. There are many golf clubs around the Algarve and beautiful beaches along the coast. Tavira has a beautiful beach island that is accessed by boat. The spanish boarder is 20 minutes drive from Tavira.

Excellent hotel with friendly helpful staff and good facilities. Good position in traditional Portugese town with the sea and countryside nearby. We had a hire car to explore and watch birds -over 50 species recorded in 7 days.

We were late breakfasters and there didn't seem a great variety of cooked food to choose from and cereals were stale. Our suggestion would be to serve coffee and tea pots to tables as lots of people moving about with hot liquids carrying cups is dangerous.

Covered in my review above apart from the riverside trips, and camera obscura (not to be missed) and churches and old historical places of interest
